    DoveLewis is currently seeking Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Residents for 2025-2026. Program dates will be 07/14/2025 - 07/9/2028.

    DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is a non-profit, AAHA-accredited and VECCS Level 1-certified, 24-hour multi-specialty referral center in beautiful Portland, Oregon. We have one of the highest ER caseloads in the country, a dedicated ICU for hospitalized patients, and a robust selection of in-hospital specialties including Cardiology, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Exotics, Hospice, and Pain Management. Our hospital complex encompasses two adjacent state-of-the-art facilities, one newly constructed as of November 2024.

    We offer Oregon's only ECC residency aimed at creating highly proficient, multi-faceted critical care specialists. The primary goals for this program are developing the broad skillset required to manage an ER/ICU, navigate through complex in-hospital cases, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. Options for endoscopy, ultrasound, surgery, and CRRT/TPE training will be available throughout the three-year program. There is a strong emphasis on mentorship, direct support and specialist engagement, didactic education, and primary patient care. You will have high exposure to complex, unique patient caseload.

    • Your internship will include a rotation through all specialty services in the hospital.
    • Highly skilled technical support staff, including 5+ Veterinary Technician Specialists, and a hospital wide emphasis on continuous teaching and learning.
    • Multiple DVMs on site at all times with distinct ER and ICU departments for ideal patient management.
    • Unique community and donor run programs and funds available for optimal patient care such as: an on-site donor-run blood bank, Pet Loss Support, Animal Assisted Therapy & Education, Low-Income Assistance Fund, Abused Animals Fund and a Stray and Wildlife Fund
    • Work collaboratively with a team of passionate veterinarians who strive for excellence.

    Position benefits include:

    • Annual salary of $110,000 with a $5,000 increase per year for the 3-year residency program.
      • 1st year: $110,000
      • 2nd year: $115,000
      • 3rd year: $120,000

    Requirements:

    • Applicant must have a veterinary degree from an AVMA accredited school.
    • Applicant must complete a 1-Year Rotating Internship or ECC internship prior to the beginning of the program.
    • Applicant must meet license requirements to practice in the state of Oregon by the beginning of the program.
    • Applicant must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
