About the Role:
The Critical Care Specialist will provide expert care to critically ill and injured animals. This role requires advanced knowledge and skills in diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions. Responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive critical care to patients in the ICU, including managing respiratory distress, shock, sepsis, and other life-threatening conditions.
- Performing advanced diagnostic procedures, such as ultrasound, endoscopy, and radiology.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborating with other specialists and referring veterinarians to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Communicating effectively with clients, providing updates on their pet's condition, and explaining treatment options.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records.
- Participating in continuing education and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in critical care medicine.
- Mentoring and training veterinary students, interns, and residents. (If applicable)
- Contributing to research and scholarly activities. (If applicable)
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree.
- License to practice in the state of Texas
- Completion of a residency program in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
- Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC).
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of veterinary medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
