Position Summary
We are looking to hire a licensed veterinary technician with a desire to join a close-knit growing organization that specializes in small animal Veterinary Neurology. The applicant will be expected to provide compassionate patient care, positive client experiences, and is expected to be a good team player.
Wisconsin Veterinary Neurology and Surgical Center offers in-house high field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), neurological surgical procedures, and other specialized diagnostic/treatment modalities. Veterinary Technician Responsibilities:
Triaging patients, taking vitals, and acquiring patient histories.
Assisting with diagnostic procedures, which includes but is not limited to MRI, CSF taps, radiographic studies, and others.
Client communication, which includes discussing treatment plans, estimates/payment options, phone calls, and discharges.
Phlebotomy
IV catheter placement
Induction/monitoring general anesthesia/sedation
Operation of a mechanical ventilator
Operating autoclave and Sterlink (cold) sterilizer.
Processing specimens in the in-house laboratory and submitting specimens to outside laboratories.
Calculating medication dosages and providing dosage instructions for clients.
Keeping accurate patient records.
Assisting with neurologic surgical procedures.
Veterinary technicians are expected to help/assist with carrying of patients. Generally, this means an ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Veterinary Technician Requirements:
Must have a valid CVT license in the state of Wisconsin.
Proficient computer skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Outstanding people skills.
Ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Team player.
Ability to bend, kneel, and safely handle large and/or difficult patients
Hours and Proposed Schedule
· 35-40 hours/week Monday through Friday
· Willing to work overtime/stay past scheduled shift based on needs of the hospital
· Four 10hr shifts/wk, or five 8 hr shifts/wk
· 1-2 holiday on/call shifts per year (additional compensation is provided for these holiday shifts)
· Weekend coverage as needed

-7am-5pm
-9am-7pm
-11am-9pm
