    Job Description

    The Position

    The Vice President, Consumer Insights, Content & Audience Intelligence will work in a high-performing and fast-paced environment, developing forward-looking consumer insights to help guide key business decisions and inform Content and Audience strategies across the NBCE and Peacock suite of brands. As a thought leader, this executive will build deep, foundational knowledge on key audiences and their content preferences / needs, to drive growth and shape the company’s understanding of the consumer, partnering with XF teams including Content, Content Strategy, Marketing, and others. This LA-based position will report directly to the SVP, Consumer Insights, Strategy and will work closely with other Consumer Insights functions to tell holistic and integrated stories.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead and build out the Content & Audience Intelligence practice within Consumer Insights by designing strategic mixed-methods research initiatives incorporating zero, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data sources to identify future opportunities for audience growth.
    • Partner with Content Strategy and Analytics teams to develop analyses and new metrics to inform audience prioritization, portfolio planning / optimization through a consumer-first lens, identifying and prioritizing opportunities to leverage content to drive growth.
    • Identify, design and execute rich audience deep-dives in key areas (e.g., Sports, Underrepresented Audiences, etc.) to develop common language across XF teams on content needs and opportunities for key growth audiences.
    • Develop foundational frameworks on emerging content needs and principles across TV / Streaming, content types / genres, and formats to inspire creative planning; Work closely with Content Insights team to integrate learnings at a title-level; Partner with XF teams to identify opportunities to integrate insights and tools across the business.
    • Partner with Data & Analytics teams to delve into content-driven hypotheses integrating behavioral / viewing data and consumer insights to further inform programming and content strategies and tactics to improve engagement; Develop best practices on application and interpretation of audience concepts and metrics.
    • Conduct research and synthesize existing data sources to develop strong perspectives on best practices re: content engagement strategies and tactics (e.g., release tactics) to build fandom, loyalty, and value over time.
    • Innovate on current title tracking methods, identify opportunities for macro analyses and guide team to leverage this data to become a leading voice in best practices for launching titles to key audiences.
    • Serve as a “hub” of expertise on audience consumer insights, seeking opportunities to connect information across key partners in Consumers Insights, Decision Sciences, and beyond.
    • Routinely deliver insights to key stakeholders and provide conclusions and recommendations to inform audience strategy, content portfolio planning, and growth tactics.
    • Seek opportunities to leverage audience data across more powerfully through automation, integration, and new technologies.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements:

    • Minimum 10 years of experience in content and audience research in the entertainment, streaming media, subscription, or direct-to consumer industries, managing custom research (across both qualitative and quantitative studies) and working with syndicated research.
    • Demonstrated success in leveraging data and insights to inform business decisions and achieve broad buy-in of strategic initiatives - with specific experience conducting deep audience research to guide business decisions related to Content Strategy, Programming, Portfolio Planning.
    • Background in combining multiple streams of consumer research, ideally with some mix of zero, 1st party, 2nd party, and 3rd party data (e.g., NPower, Gracenote, MRI, Parrot and/or other sources), to establish a 360 portrait of consumers.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Highly strategic and forward-thinking insights leader who is able to synthesize broad business context, anticipate needs, and translate those into actionable research initiatives.
    • Deep understanding of content trends, history and evolution of content genres, and nuanced understanding of audiences across the media landscape.
    • Experience studying culture and key audience cohorts in a rich and holistic way, avoiding biases and stereotypes through thoughtful and nuanced approaches to methodology and interpretation.
    • Highly analytical, seasoned data professional with deep operational knowledge and expertise in consumer insights and business strategy.
    • Documented success building, managing, and retaining high-performance teams including both highly analytical and creative skillsets.
    • Strong ability to listen to unspoken needs, manage tradeoffs, generate buy-in for new research initiatives, and have influence / impact with key stakeholders.
    • Proven strength in strategic storytelling and ability to bring data-driven insights to life in actionable and inspiring ways with senior leaders in both creative and analytical functions.
    • Deeply immersed in latest technologies and innovations in consumer insight and market research and able to draw from a range of capabilities to create innovative research programs.

    Additional Requirements:

    Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
