    Vice President, Events and Expositions

    Summary

    American Coatings Association (ACA) seeks a Vice President, Events and Expositions to join our team. This position will be responsible for the planning and execution of programs and events for the association. This position requires collaboration with all ACA's departments and subsidiaries.

    About ACA

    ACA is a voluntary, nonprofit organization working to advance the needs of the paint and coatings industry and the professionals who work in it. Through advocacy of the industry and its positions on legislative, regulatory, and judicial issues at the federal, state and local levels, it acts as an effective ally ensuring that the industry is represented and fairly considered. The association focuses on advancements in science and technology through its technical conferences and journals, and offers essential business information to members through its publications, surveys, and business programs.

    Responsibilities

    • Reports directly to ACA's CEO.
    • Ongoing oversight and management of all Events staff.
    • Site selection for AC Show and Conference, and Executive level meetings and special events.
    • Contract review/negotiation and signing of all ACA and ACS agreements.
    • Budget development and tracking for all large meetings and events, and the American Coatings Show and Conference.
    • Develop and sell sponsorship opportunities for AC Show and Conference, and ACA events.
    • Processing of vendor invoices to ensure services are uninterrupted.
    • Housing for AC Show – negotiate, sign, and work with housing vendor to ensure good housing options for the ACS.
    • Vendors for ACS – hiring of all vendors to include AV, housing, registration, show decorator, security, catering, staffing, etc.
    • Booth design for ACS and ECS – work closely with Communications.
    • Promotional efforts for ACS/ACC – work closely with Communications.
    • Securing of insurance for ACA meetings and the ACS.
    • Providing updates and reports to ACA CEO as necessary.
    • Reports directly to ACA CEO.
    • Travel required, including occasional international.
    • 10+ years of trade show management experience.
    • 10+ years of event planning experience.
    • Must have experience leading and managing a team of Event professionals.
    • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
    • Strong negotiation skills.
    • History of strong people skills and the ability to work with multiple vendors.
    • Association meeting planning/trade show experience a plus.

    Location and Travel

    This position is located at ACA headquarters in Washington, DC and will operate within a hybrid work environment (working both onsite and remotely). This position will be expected to travel for work events numerous times per year within the US and on occasion Internationally.

    Employment, Salary and Benefits

    This is a full time, regular position. Salary is dependent on experience, but on estimate can range from $140,000 to $160,000.
