    Job Description

    NBCU Local is the division of NBCUniversal that includes 11 local NBC television stations, 28 local Telemundo stations and their digital channels and websites and 4 Regional Sports networks, as well as a group of out-of-home properties and a production company. The stations produce and deliver compelling and unique local news, information, sports and entertainment programming to viewers in the communities they serve, which include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington, D.C., Miami, San Diego and Connecticut, with a goal of connecting to their audiences anytime and anywhere.

    Role Summary

    This is a dynamic and highly visible opportunity for a senior human resources leader to provide overall strategic human resources support and leadership to the NBCUniversal Local businesses located in Philadelphia, including both the NBC (WCAU) and Telemundo (WWSI) TV stations and the Regional Sports Network, NBC Sports Philadelphia. The VP, Human Resources will partner closely with senior executives and other leaders across the company to offer guidance on matters such as organizational design, employee relations, compensation planning, succession planning, and staffing and development.

    Responsibilities

    Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead and leverage HR processes and drive key HR initiatives across all 3 businesses including staffing, performance management, compensation planning, succession planning, training and development, rewards & recognition, organizational effectiveness and employee communication
    • Create and execute a comprehensive employee relations strategy
    • Work closely with Labor Relations on collective bargaining issues, resolving grievances, and furthering NBCU’s relationships with its unions
    • Partner and collaborate with various business leaders on growth strategies and cost challenges; provide HR guidance and input on decisions and execute in order to enable these strategies
    • Work with managers to build a career path for employees, identifying opportunities for training, new skill acquisition, and advancement
    • Help to drive change within the organization, to include adoption of new technologies, workflows, staffing models, and organization structures
    • Identify, select, develop and retain world-class talent and ensure a dynamic pipeline
    • Provide executive coaching to department leaders, offering feedback and advice on employee and organizational issues
    • Uncover, assess and propose opportunities for HR process improvements
    • Provide interpretation of HR policies, practices and procedures to employees and managers
    • Work with leaders and employees to establish and maintain a positive work environment, which encourages the full use of diverse talents and abilities; act as an employee advocate; help drive various corporate and division business initiatives
    • Collaborate closely with Corporate HR teams (i.e. HR Operations, Learning & Development, Compensation, and Legal) to execute on responsibilities.

    ** Required Qualifications**

    • 12+ years of professional HR experience, including prior experience in a leadership role
    • Previous Employee Relations/Labor Relations experience

    ** Desired Characteristics**

    • Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, and coaching skills
    • Strong business acumen, facilitation, conflict resolution, and communication skills
    • Knowledge and practical application of HR disciplines including employment and labor laws, employee relations, management & leadership development, performance management, organizational design and compensation philosophies and knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety
    • Experience with Labor Relations, ideally supporting a represented workforce and handling union relations
    • Strong business partnership: able to establish credibility and rapport with operating leaders
    • Project and process management skills, demonstrated track record of delivering results
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong client-support orientation, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and with a wide range of clients, individually and in groups
    • Strong employee-relations skill set; can earn trust and credibility with employees in assigned groups and be able to build rapport
    • Open and easily approachable
    • Previous experience with a union-represented workforce is a plus
    • Proven influencer; demonstrated ability to coach and counsel both employees and management
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities and lead change
    • Takes ownership; able to establish self as the ‘go-to’ HR resource for client organizations
    • Prior media/television industry experience preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field

    _ Additional Requirements:_

    • This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

    ** Eligibility Requirements**

    • Must be willing to work in Philadelphia, PA. The business is located in two facilities, one at the Comcast Tech Ctr, the other at the Wells Fargo Center. The Candidate should be able to work out of either location, with the CTC being the primary office
    • Must be willing to submit to background investigation
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
