Vice President of Research and Development and Innovation - Building Products - Base Salary to 225k/year - Indianapolis, IN

• Our client is a Global Fortune 500 company with $11B U.S. revenue and 350 U.S. sites. They are currently seeking a Vice President of Research and Development and Innovation to join their team.
• The Vice President of Research and Development and Innovation will have an impactful role within the company; and will oversee a key R&D center with 40+ professionals, driving the development of high-liability building products and materials with 20-30 year warranties.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute an innovation strategy aligned with market trends, sustainability goals, and the company’s vision.
• Lead cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches, balancing risk management and profitability.
• Partner with project management and commercial teams to align R&D efforts with market needs and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee a team of 40+ Research and Development professionals at the organization’s largest R&D center, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Drive innovation for high-liability building products and materials while maintaining calculated risk management.
• Manage patent portfolios and intellectual property evaluations.
• Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to ensure raw material sourcing and manufacturing excellence.
• Inspire and mentor team members to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
• 10+ years of Research and Development leadership experience in building materials, products, or a closely related industry.
• Proven ability to lead diverse teams and drive product innovation to meet commercial needs.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, project management, and market strategy.
• Experience balancing innovation bandwidth with product maintenance priorities.

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 195k – 225k/year range, plus bonus.
