    St. Vincent de Paul Indianapolis is a largely volunteer-supported 501c3 non-profit organization serving individuals and families in need throughout Central and Southern Indiana. This position is based in Indianapolis and will support the volunteers at our Distribution Center located at 1201 E. Maryland Street in Downtown Indianapolis.     Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator

    Reports to: Director of Volunteer Services

    Location: Distribution Center

    Job Summary:

    The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for ensuring volunteers are effectively involved in meaningful tasks that align with the mission of St. Vincent de Paul. The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with the Director of Volunteer Services, operations staff, and lead volunteers to engage both individual volunteers and groups in supporting the daily operations of our mission.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Represent the Mission of St. Vincent de Paul

    • Foster a culture of service and commitment to our neighbors and volunteers.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, neighbors, and staff.
    • Serve as an ambassador of St. Vincent de Paul, actively embodying and promoting our mission and values.
    • Uphold and protect the confidentiality of all St. Vincent de Paul information related to neighbors, customers, and volunteers.
    • Lead by example, sharing expertise and offering support to those you work with.
    • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all volunteers, ensuring a positive experience.
    • Clearly communicate and explain the mission of St. Vincent de Paul to volunteers and stakeholders during tours and interactions.

    2. Volunteer Management and Supervision

    • Collaborate with operational staff and volunteer leaders to identify and plan volunteer activities based on the organization's needs.
    • Develop a solid understanding of various tasks and responsibilities within the facility to guide and direct volunteers effectively.
    • Plan and organize meaningful activities for volunteer groups in advance, ensuring a well-coordinated experience.
    • Assign, direct, and oversee volunteer tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion.
    • Monitor volunteers during their activities, ensuring they are supported and able to complete their work efficiently. Be available to answer questions and provide guidance as needed.
    • Work with the Director of Volunteer Services to recognize and appreciate volunteers for their hard work and dedication.

    3. Facility and Organizational Support

    • Communicate any concerns involving volunteers to the Director of Volunteer Services and/or the Director of Operations.
    • Provide volunteers with the tools and equipment necessary to perform tasks safely and effectively.
    • Understand partnerships and donations processes to assist in the smooth operation of the facility.
    • Assist with cleanup and organizing after volunteer sessions to maintain a safe and functional environment.
    • Support the Director of Volunteer Services with managing the Salesforce volunteer module to organize volunteer activities and other related data.
    • Represent St. Vincent de Paul at community events as directed by the Director of Volunteer Services.
    • Assist with facility operations when volunteer coordination duties are complete or as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization’s goals.

    Job Requirements :

    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
    • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently.
    • Friendly and outgoing with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
    • Experience with Salesforce or similar volunteer management system (preferred)
    • Experience with Microsoft Suite.
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).

    Work Schedule:

    • 20 to 24 hours per week.
    • Weekdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with flexibility.
    • Two Saturdays per month from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
