    **Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy is seeking a part-time Volunteer & Development Associate for its 2025 season, from March-November 2025. **

    Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy plays a vital role in creating and energizing this community-focused, world-class urban oasis on the Brooklyn waterfront. We bring this unique park space to life with more than 400 free, innovative and engaging educational, cultural, fitness and recreational programs each year. Our volunteer community plays a crucial role in the delivery of our public programming and in maintaining Brooklyn Bridge Park for all to enjoy.

    The Volunteer & Development Associate will report to the Volunteer Manager, providing support for the delivery of group volunteering events for corporate, public, school and local community groups. This will include assisting with hands-on facilitation of Green Teams (group gardening) and Coastal Cleanup (trash collection) activities in the park as well as with pre- and post-activity administration. They will also support the delivery and administration of Conservancy fundraising events and donor cultivation initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of creating impactful experiences for hundreds of volunteers at Brooklyn Bridge Park and building community support for a non-profit organization.

    This position will be from mid-March to November (maximum of 10 hours per week in March and November, 20 hours maximum per week April-October). This is an in-person role which involves a variable work pattern, based on the needs of the volunteer program, including evening and weekend work, scheduled in advance.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Working outdoors to facilitate group volunteering projects, including setting up equipment, checking waiver completion, welcoming volunteers, taking photographs, and supervising tasks
    • Accurately recording and tracking volunteer attendance and other activity outputs such as bags of weeds removed and lbs of trash collected
    • Coordinating volunteer equipment, including maintaining and up-to-date inventory and organized storage system
    • Supporting at fundraising events, including spring and fall events and various smaller cultivation events
    • Supporting the creation engaging volunteer communications, including newsletters, social media content, and promotional messaging
    • Providing general administrative support for volunteering and fundraising events and initiatives as needed

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

    • A motivation to work with the Conservancy and make an impact within a nonprofit organization
    • An interest in volunteering and/or environmental stewardship
    • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with a diverse range of people
    • Written communication skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to perform outdoor work (including lifting up to 40 lbs) in all weather conditions
    • Willingness to accommodate a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends
    • Right to work in the USA
    • A valid NYS Driver's License
    • Experience of volunteering personally or professionally is a plus
    • Comfortable speaking to a large audience is a plus
    • Competent in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite is a plus

    Pay rate is $25/hour. This is a part-time hourly position.
