This role is a mix of in-person and remote.
Volunteer and Governance Specialist supports several areas of leadership, manages the association's governance-related schedules and functions, and develops strategies to recruit and retain volunteers. These are vital functions in our organization, with high visibility and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and ensure association activities comply with the organization's bylaws, policies, mission, and vision.
Provide guidance and support to internal leadership and related committees in governance, organizational procedures, and advocacy.
Work with the committee in the revision of association bylaws and policies.
Coordinate board meetings and related standing committee meetings, including notifications, agenda preparation, meeting minutes, and follow-up actions.
Manage the grievance process as needed.
Maintain accurate records of board decisions, actions, and policies.
Collaborate with the government affairs committee to support the implementation of advocacy strategies and initiatives in construction and remodeling.
Foster strong relationships with members and allies to advance the association's goals.
Serve as a resource and point of contact for members seeking information on governance and advocacy issues.
Generate reports on advocacy activities for the board and senior management.
Maintain organized records of advocacy efforts and outcomes for future reference and evaluation.
Ensure all documentation is accurate, current, and readily accessible.
Other duties as assigned to support and provide value to our members.
Occasional travel may be required.
Our Preferred Candidate Possesses:
In-depth knowledge of nonprofit association governance structures, bylaws, and policies.
Experience with volunteer management and engagement strategies
Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software for document management.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
A commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Bachelor's degree in an associated field or equivalent relevant experience.
Ability to successfully work with multiple stakeholders and resolve conflicts that arise.
Strong communication and networking skills convey information clearly and concisely via phone, video call, and written communication.
Understanding of the importance of providing exemplary customer service internally and externally.
