Job Summary
Boston-based worker-owned cooperative seeks responsible professional CDL truck driver, for growing organic waste collection business. Responsibilities
Perform routine safety inspections and preventative maintenance
Adhere to the work schedule
Comply with all company policies and driving laws
Ability to safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect organic waste.
Ability to use routing app and service each customer identified on the app or assigned by the operations manager.
Perform routine vehicle inspection and maintenance, such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading.
Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of waste at designated facilities.
Courteous interaction with our customers and performing other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
This position requires strenuous physical work: heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 100 pounds.
Qualifications
Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement.
Minimum 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete pre-and post-trip inspections.
Familiarity with GPS systems, and service log apps.
Understanding of all relevant truck driving laws and regulations
Clean driving record
Waste management experience is preferred, but not required.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 100 pounds.
The work environment involves exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. Which requires following basic safety precautions.
The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
A typical schedule for this position is Saturday and Sunday, 5:00 am to 12:00 noon, approximately 16 hours per week.
