    The Walker Art Center empowers people to experience the transformative possibilities of the art and ideas of our time and to imagine the world in new ways. In our over 125-year history, we have become one of the most celebrated art museums in the country and we are known for our innovative presentations and acclaimed collections of contemporary art across the spectrum of the visual, performing, and media arts.

    The Rosemary Furtak Internship is for graduate students completing their Master’s in Information or similar degree. The Intern will provide support for the Walker Art Center Library and will work with books, journals, artists’ files, and pamphlet files with a goal of providing access to the materials through the collections management databases, library catalog, and website. The Intern will also attend Archives + Library Department meetings and participate in library programming.


    WHAT YOU GET TO DO

    • Provide cataloging in the library
    • Provide support with the artists’ files, journals, and pamphlet files Identify
    • basic preservation needs
    • Assist researchers
    • Assist with the planning, staffing, and statistics for library programming

    WHAT WE NEED IN YOU

    Minimum Requirements

    • Student currently enrolled in a master’s degree ALA accredited library or information sciences program
    • Strong computer skills and knowledge of library systems such as KOHA
    • Experience with MARC, RDA, OCLC
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
    • Interest in contemporary art librarianship a plus

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to lift 40 pounds
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
    • Requires concentration and ability to work in a quiet environment

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS This position is considered part-time (0.2 FTE), non-exempt. As a non-exempt position, it is eligible for overtime pay. The compensation for this role is $20.00 hourly. The Walker offers a wide range of benefits for both part-time and full-time employees.

    This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
