As a Surgical Services RN, you will provide direct patient care to neonates through geriatric patient populations and address the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical, endoscopy, pre-operative, and PACU environment. The Surgical Services RN will also communicate with the surgeon and anesthetist continuously and as needed regarding the patient's condition and assist with the maintenance of surgical services equipment and inventory. They will participate in performance improvement activities, assess the operating room, pre-operative, PACU, and endoscopy room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases, and ensure all appropriate needs of the surgical operating team are met. Monitors, positions, and assists patients during the procedure. The RN will prepare and educate patients for the surgical experience, provide intensive care to patients as they awaken from anesthesia, monitor and support the safe transition from an anesthetized state to responsiveness, and prepare patients for discharge from the PACU unit. The RN will admit patients for surgical procedures, assist with surgery scheduling, and may administer moderate sedation to patients for minor procedures, and coordinate pre-op visits with patients.
Requirements
Individuals must be able to perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Clear, kind, and informative communication skills are desired. Individuals must have an Oregon Registered Nurse Licensure.
