JOB SUMMARY:

We are hiring for a Chemical Compliance Specialist to be responsible for maintaining and monitoring internal compliance and assuring the proper handling of all chemicals take place. This full-time exempt position will report to the Director of Chemical Operations.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

· Maintain internal compliance in regard to all corporate environmental programs (local, state and federal).

· Provide subject matter expertise on the content for chemical training, may participate in training sessions.

· Lead the Chemical Review Team (CRT) by executing weekly calls, and reviewing new chemical opportunities.

· Manage the CRT log, and compliance calendar for all locations and provide feedback, as needed.

· Review chemical opportunities by researching Safety Data Sheets (SDS), compatibility, and NFPA limitations.

· Provide all network locations with waste disposal, product segregation, and regulatory standards.

· Lead corporate efforts with the American Chemistry Council and the Responsible Care program.

· Assume internal (unofficial) audits to ensure operational knowledge and practice.

· Maintain communication with Safety, Risk Management, Legal, and Engineering on matters advisable.

· Observe and document operation, contents, and quantities in all chemical for record keeping purposes.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Build trust with internal partners by ensuring all needs are being met as committed.

· Demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

· Maintain knowledge to ensure all chemical handling is being met as required by federal, state and local laws.

· Demonstrate an ability to have a high degree of attention to detail.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, or related field.

· At least 3 years of experience performing related functions in the logistics or chemical industry.

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

· Work out of a remote home location, with proximity to an airport for travel via airplane.

· Travel in a car 10% of the time and in an airplane 50% of the time; estimates vary based on home location.

· Ability to sit for extended periods of time within an office environment.

· Ability to use hands and fingers for computer keyboarding, and answer phone calls.

· Ability to communicate via the telephone using speaking and hearing skills.
