Washington Voter Research campaign canvassers work in teams or alone and walk door-to-door speaking to registered voters to get out the vote. A handheld device is used to track information gathered. This job is a work-when-you-want type of job. We ask that you work at least 20 hours a week and no more than 35 hours in the work week. You can work between 8am and 6pm any day of the week. Work when it’s convenient for you. This is a great part time job if you need some extra money. Ask about our head hunter program if you know others that may be interested.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A canvasser is responsible for undertaking the following: • Participate in and complete all required training. • Gain familiarity with each campaign’s cause in order to explain the purpose of the survey and assist with the proper completion of surveys. • Able to walk door-to-door to collect survey data. • Must be comfortable talking to voters at their door. • Must have strong attention to detail. • Proven ability to timely enter voter survey information into tablet app thoroughly and accurately. • Submit weekly progress reports. Record and report weekly hours. • Strive for a minimum of 3 completed surveys per hour. Meet all goals and metrics. • Must be comfortable working in a teamwork environment. • Must be able to pass a criminal background check. • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions all day. • Must be able to walk up steps and walk between 1 – 5 miles per day. • Strong oral communication skills and the ability to speak clearly. • Ability to work in all types of communities. • Possess excellent people skills; must be comfortable speaking with strangers and people from different backgrounds. • Ability to work a flexible schedule with weekday evenings and weekend hours as needed. • Have a strong and reliable work ethic. • English language. • Maintain a professional demeanor while canvassing. • Tech savvy, able to operate an app and tablet (provided by employer). • Have access to reliable transportation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Political or canvassing experience is helpful, but not required. • Public speaking, sales, and customers service experience is helpful, but not required.
