    Position summary : Responsible for business development, financial success, and managing staff for the department at the local level.

    The JMT Round Rock, Texas office is seeking a motivated individual responsible for business development, financial success, and managing staff for the Water Resources department at the local level. The candidate will have increasing responsibilities in designing, managing, and marketing drainage engineering for a variety of clients and project types. The successful candidate will be well-versed across the water resources discipline with demonstrated design and management experience in drainage and stormwater management design, modeling, and permitting with the supporting capabilities to effectively oversee, perform and manage a variety of water resource related engineering projects.

    This position will help grow the water resources discipline as part of a multi-discipline engineering office with a strong transportation resume and clients at the local, regional and state level. There is a significant need for a candidate that understands the existing Texas stormwater regulations, has experience on stormwater and drainage design for TxDOT transportation projects, and can assist local municipalities with their water resources project objectives. Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments. Acts as a technical mentor to junior engineers.

    Essential functions and responsibilities:

    • Coordinate strategic growth plan with Central Texas office leaders (Round Rock and Austin) and practice leaders

    • Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development

    • Manage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordingly

    • Lead and contribute to the production of proposals

    • Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff

    • Establish resources staffing needs for the section

    • Interview and hire staff for the section

    • Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams

    • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program

    • Professional Engineer License or equivalent

    • 10+ years’ experience in specialized discipline

    • Project management and business development experience

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office

    Qualifications preferred

    • Experience working with local clients at the municipal, county and state level

    • TxDOT precertification's for Hydraulic Design and Analysis

    • Supervisory experience

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High School diploma/GED required. Associates degree preferred.
    • Minimum three years of relevant experience in a fast-paced office environment highly preferred.
    • Positive, customer-focused approach.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities.
    • Ability to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision.
    • Experience with technology for optimizing efficiency.
    • Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills.
