    Position Summary:

    Provides water line maintenance and repair services to all Grand Canyon West locations and facilities. Duties will include welding, operating backhoe, insulation installation, plumbing maintenance and repairs. May operate heavy equipment as part of duties. May also assist Maintenance Technicians in other related duties. Interprets operating, maintenance and repair manuals. Provides quality customer service at all times while following safety and health procedures and policies.

    Knowledge and Abilities:

    Ability to physically complete and have the knowledge to perform maintenance and repair duties required for water lines at Grand Canyon West. Ability to operate heavy equipment.

    Ability to read and understand operating, maintenance and repair manuals. Some of this information may be obtained through online methods.

    Ability to monitor the condition and maintenance of equipment, machinery, water lines and pump stations.

    Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

    Ability to work in outdoor environment for long periods of time.

    Ability to work in a team environment and establish and maintain positive working relationships. Good client/customer service skills and the ability to work independently as well as in support of the group effort.

    Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Perform maintenance and repair of PVC and poly pipe, pump stations and install insulation. May operate heavy equipment during execution of duties.

    2. Monitor the condition and maintain logs of maintenance and repair activities.

    3. Interpret and translate into action information provided by maintenance and repair manuals, either online or in the physical manuals.

    4. May assist in other maintenance and repair activities of maintenance function.

    5. Answer visitor/tourists questions, gives directions, share information about GCW, the Hualapai history and culture, etc.

    6. Maintain maintenance equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition. Follow safety and health policies and procedures at all times.

    7. Operate back hoe in performance of water line maintenance and repair duties.

    8. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    1. Certification for water distribution required.

    2. Good oral communication skills.

    3. Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

    4. High School Diploma or GED.

    5. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.

    Working Conditions:

    Position requires ability to work indoors as well as in outdoor environment for long periods of time, regardless of weather conditions. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
