Framatome is looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to support projects in the Safety and Operational I&C group. This position is responsible for performing detailed hardware related engineering tasks such as cabinet assembly design, electrical and mechanical design of enclosures (power and wiring design, heat load and power calculations, termination details, etc). Under general supervision, this position performs broad, complex engineering assignments requiring originality, ingenuity and the development of new methods. Provide advanced technical support related to planning, designing, and analyzing.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Develop hardware solutions for I&C project architectures based on customer requirements and product specifications in particular for Triconex and Foxboro DCS products
- Perform cabinet assembly mechanical and electrical design
- Prepare electrical and mechanical design documents (power and wiring details, heat load and power calculations, termination details, etc)
- Perform routine and non-routine engineering assignments typically in areas of hardware design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing and preparation of specifications.
- Prepare detailed system, and hardware specifications based on client requirements and US industry standards.
- Solve a range of straightforward problems, analyze solutions and assess each using standard procedures.
- Independently evaluate, select and apply a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making adaptations and modifications
- Ensure compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
- Perform other related duties and tasks, as required.
ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY. CANDIDATES WHO EXCEED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MAY BE CONSIDERED FOR A HIGHER LEVEL POSITION.
- ENGINEER II: BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent plus 2-3 years of related experience.
- ENGINEER III: BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent plus 3-5 years of related experience.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.
- Proven knowledge of mechanical design of cabinets enclosures and assemblies
- Proven knowledge of National Electrical Code
- AutoCAD or SolidWorks knowledge an asset
- Knowledge of industry control systems such as DCS, PLC, etc. Foxboro DCS and Triconex system an asset
- Good problem identification and problem resolution skills
