Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented pharmacist to lead our Weekend Expanded Access Pharmacy, providing critical medication access for health center patients during non-traditional hours. The ideal candidate will have a strong pharmacy background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. This pharmacy will complement the services of the Weekend Expanded Access Clinic and focus on supporting the immediate needs of walk-in patients.
Key Responsibilities: Medication Dispensing: Accurately prepare, verify, and dispense medications prescribed by clinic providers or brought in by walk-in health center patients.
Patient Counseling: Provide clear and concise information to patients regarding their medications, including usage instructions, potential side effects, and storage requirements.
Clinical Review: Conduct thorough reviews of prescriptions to identify potential drug interactions, allergies, or contraindications and consult with providers as needed.
Inventory Management: Maintain an adequate supply of medications and products to meet patient needs. Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure compliance with proper storage and handling protocols.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the pharmacy operates in compliance with state and federal regulations, including record-keeping and reporting requirements.
Collaboration: Work closely with clinic providers and staff to address patient needs and streamline pharmacy services.
Customer Service: Maintain a patient-centered approach, providing professional and courteous service to all patients and caregivers.
Technology Utilization: Utilize pharmacy management systems and electronic health records (EHR) to document patient interactions, process prescriptions, and maintain accurate records.
Emergency Preparedness: Be available to handle urgent medication needs and ensure continuity of care during the weekend hours.
Qualifications: Education:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
Licensure and Certification:
Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in Oklahoma.
Immunization certification and ability to administer vaccines (preferred).
Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail, outpatient, or ambulatory pharmacy setting preferred.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and medication therapy management.
Proficiency in pharmacy software and electronic health records (EHR).
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment:
Fast-paced, patient-focused pharmacy setting adjacent to the Weekend Expanded Access Clinic.
Requires standing or walking for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Interaction with diverse patient populations and healthcare professionals.
Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive weekend differential hourly rate (commensurate with experience).
