  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    This position will be a 5 month contract to support an increase in demand. Potential to covert to a permanent position

    The welder will be responsible for the welding of carbon steel material for cans, brackets and other products assigned by the production foreman.

    Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

    • Use of welding related equipment, Ox-acetylene torch, spot welding and portable and fixed electrical welding equipment
    • Capable of reading shop drawings and blue prints and producing welds that meet the specified requirements
    • Basic understanding of welding metallurgy and safety rules
    • Capable of setting up equipment to the requirements of the approved company specifications and assembles components to weld fixtures
    • Ability to work to verbal instructions
    • Capable of running shop equipment (machines, grinders) with training will acquire the ability to estimate and order materials related to the welding of company products
    • Remove, clean and replace electrodes for painting
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Two years exp or equivalent training certification (welding per AWS, ASME or others)
    • Minimum 1-3 years’ welding experience with Shielded Metal Arc Weld (SMAW) & Gas Metal Arc Weld (GMAW)
    • Welding low carbon steel materials, ½” to ¾” thick in position F1, using 3/8” weld fillets, up to 3 passes

    Desirable

    • Ideally formal qualification in welding
    • Certified or once certified to ASME Section IX or AWS

    Pay: $20 - $26/hr
