THE OPPORTUNITY As part of the continued expansion of our Private Investing capabilities, we are seeking to recruit an MBA Summer Intern to join our Privates team potentially working with Hadley Harbor, Wellington Access Ventures and/or Climate Innovation. The firm has been investing in private markets since 2003, and the Firm launched its first dedicated private capital fund in 2014. Today, the privates team currently manages approximately $5 billion in assets across four later-stage, growth equity funds and is the fastest growing investment group within Wellington. The MBA Summer Internship is ideal for those first-year MBA students who plan to pursue a career in private investing. During this ten-to-twelve-week internship, you will be assigned to work closely with senior members of the team to diligence investment opportunities and map markets. Specific projects will be finalized closer to the start of the internship. The work that you will do during the summer internship is representative of what an investor would do on a full-time basis, and successful interns will be actively considered for full-time investor opportunities beginning after their graduation. To provide guidance throughout the summer, you will have a few senior investors as mentors. The internship is supplemented by training, educational sessions, and social events. THE POSITION You will be focused on identifying, analyzing, and recommending private equity investments to the firm's investors. Responsibilities include: •Mapping a specific industry and recommending potential transactions within that industry •Looking at investment ideas within the team and assisting in building and leveraging models •Evaluating investments, including all aspects of deal due diligence •Assist in preparing internal memos and additional materials to help support investment recommendations to internal constituents This will be presented with a highly challenging and rewarding experience that should offer insight to the investment management profession and to Wellington Management. Getting to know our firm Through our summer training program and other forums, you will interact with and be exposed to seasoned investors throughout the Wellington organization. Through this exposure you will both build your network and discover what makes the Wellington experience unique. Immersion into the world of investing You will have the opportunity to develop and deepen your investment knowledge by conducting research, attending company management meetings, accessing the firm's proprietary research notes, and attending our daily investor Morning Meeting. 3. Mentorship and feedback You will receive training throughout the summer to develop and grow your investment acumen and help to shape a potential career in investment management. This will be through a combination of group meetings with investors and in-house training sessions covering advanced Excel modeling and FactSet along with continued support through strong mentorship. MBA Summer interns will partner with more seasoned investors who will work alongside the Director of Early Career Investor Development to provide support and feedback. QUALIFICATIONS We seek individuals that possess investment acumen and a passion for investing, the ability to think outside the box, strong work ethic, and self-motivation. Additional qualifications for this role include: •Passion for the markets and investing •Prior financial analytical experience gained through work experience in such industries like investment banking, consulting, corporate development, or private equity is preferred •Demonstrated analytical ability with strong mathematical skills and an aptitude or interest in coding •Superior communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to articulate investment recommendations with conviction •Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a team-oriented environment •Ability to take risks and make decisions and execute under uncertainty •Capable of working with a variety of constituents •Self-motivated and able to work in an independent fashion •Ability to collaborate across areas of the firm with different levels Wellington Management is a great place for a career in investment management -- our strong culture of being non-hierarchical, informal, and entrepreneurial has led to low turnover in our investment groups and strong mentorship.
