JOB SUMMARY
Effectively delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1. Registered Nurse with current Illinois license, BSN preferred
2. CPR certification
3. Current ACLS required and CCRN preferred
4. Two years experience in Cardiac Cath Lab
5. One year of critical care experience
6. Demonstrated organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
7. Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service delivery skills
8. Excellent experience leading and facilitating a wide variety of diverse patient groups required
9. Ability to assess needs, identify problems, explore alternatives and implement solutions.
10. Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with hospital policy and governmental regulations.
11. Knowledge of basic computer operations and use of word processing software
12. Ability to use audio/visual equipment, telephone and other clinical equipment for patient teaching.
SUPERVISION
Exercised: Oversees orientation of new nurses to any procedures, equipment and medication. May serve as a preceptor for new nurses and technologist
Received: Reports to the Supervisor, Cardiac Cath Lab.
JOB DUTIES
1. Demonstrates the WSMC Service Pride Values of Respect, Honesty, Participation, and Unity, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers.
2. Assesses treatment and care for specific patient populations and plans age appropriate care. Utilizes hands on physical assessment skills interview techniques to formulate a clinical data base; analyzes collected information derived from patients and other sources to identify age-appropriate patient problems and needs. Reassesses on an ongoing basis and documents finding or changes in condition in the progress notes. Assess Severity of finding and obtains physician intervention as warranted.
3. Independently implements plans of care utilizing professional nursing skills and collaborates with and instructs patients, members of families / significant other and care team. Demonstrates ability to function in emergency situations.
4. Uses the nursing process to formulate appropriate question for measuring outcomes. Evaluates responses to therapeutic intervention. Makes judgments based on the data collected.
5. Documents selective data on appropriate forms and enters designated information into computer. Actively participates in the Quality Assurance and Improvement process.
6. Supports department of nursing and hospital policy and procedures.
7. Performs scrub and circulating duties.
8. Operates hemodynamics recording equipment, position equipment, and tables in the Cath Lab suite.
9. Complies with Cardiac Cath Lab department policy and procedures. Complies with the standards, and guide –lines established by JCAHO.
10. Demonstrates responsibility for own professional practice and growth by ensuring clinical knowledge base and skills are maintained and enhanced.
11. Organizes on a continuum due to changing status of patients and environment.
12. Maintains environment and equipment in an appropriate manner. Support Cardiac Cath team. Resolve problems. Support customer service.
