    The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking an entry- or mid-level Transportation Planner to promote considerations of the natural environment and social equity during transportation planning.     Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to complete assigned tasks that will assist the team in completing projects.

    RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

    • Assisting team to develop narratives, charts, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps for environmental and social equity content in transportation plans and grant applications
    • Supporting coordination with local governments, regulatory stakeholders, and transportation partners to identify, reduce, or mitigate environmental and social impacts of planned transportation projects
    • Studying elements of environmentally friendly roadway design and corridor management; collaborating with teams to draft written recommendations
    • Supporting staff training to incorporate social equity into transportation planning, including preparing presentations
    • Aiding efforts to document NCTCOG compliance with federal environmental and equity requirements including downloading Census Bureau data

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in analytical, quantitative methods (i.e., Transportation Planning, Urban/Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or related field)
    • One year of job-related experience or less

    Minimum of $36,976.00 annually

  • Qualifications

    Required Skills:

    • Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security manufacturers such as Lenel, AMAG, Software House, FLIR, Hirsch, MDI, Bosch, Pelco, Genetec, HID, Axis, and Geutebruck. Candidate should be able to understand how these systems operate and be familiar with their technical limitations
    • Working knowledge and/or certification with operating systems commonly used for ACS, IDS, and CCTV systems
    • Programming and scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, etc), experience with systems integration tools and protocols (APIs, SOAP and REST, XML/JSON), database design and query development
    • Configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic security system components and supporting hardware; examples include the following:
    • Intrusion detection platform software
    • Security appliances/processors and field sensors (e.g. motion/vibration, contact, buried line, fiber optic, radar, microwave, thermal, etc.)
    • Access control: workstations with credentialing software, door controllers, card readers CCTV: cameras, video management servers, network video recorder Battery backup controllers
    • Experience with AutoDesk AutoCAD is a plus
    • Ability to manage vendors both face-to-face and utilizing remote monitoring techniques, to address issues and maintain project schedules
    • Experience working in client-facing roles with USG agencies, such as USACE, NAVFAC, and GSA.
    • Proven ability to direct staff and work with a diverse team, experience working with host country nationals strongly preferred.
    • Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous workloads effectively, including adapting to changes, planning, organizing, and prioritizing work
