POSITION SUMMARY
The IDE Director is the chief strategist for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) on matters of inclusion, diversity and equity and will lead the work of the IDE Office. This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the BGCB IDEA Committee, a cross-functional team comprised of BGCB staff dedicated to developing, implementing, assessing, and holding the organization accountable to its inclusion, diversity and equity goals and initiatives.
The IDE Director is accountable for leading the short and long-term planning and the execution of inclusion, diversity and equity efforts across BGCB, while also supporting BGCB to grow and sustain an equitable, inclusive, and supportive working, fundraising and programming environment for its staff, members/families, and other key constitutes.
THE IDE OFFICE
The IDE Director will lead and manage the IDE Office, which will provide guidance, communications, and host facilitated conversations when necessary to address and educate the BGCB community on issues of equity and intersectional dimensions of diversity.
The IDE Office will also adopt (1) core values, (2) structured processes, and a (3) prioritized set of behaviors that can be used to identify and interrupt bias where it enters and exists within the organization through the expertise of the IDE Director and the continued work of BGCB’s IDEA Committee. These values, processes, and behaviors will be embedded in strategic plans that focuses on driving equity outcomes in relation to Human Resources and hiring functions, Club programming, fundraising, and administrative/business processes. In addition, it is expected that this strategic plan will be expanded in the future as necessary to meet other institutional needs for inclusion, diversity and equity.

POLICY DEVELOPMENT
Serve as a consultant regarding the design and implementation of policy and procedures that could impact historically marginalized members of the BGCB community. Identify gaps in services and work culture, then work with departments to address the identified gaps to create a more consistently welcoming and inclusive climate for people of different backgrounds, experiences and social identities.
ADVISING
Recruit, train, and provide support for the IDEA Committee members. Develop rapport; provide guidance and feedback.
ADVOCACY
Advocate for historically marginalized BGCB community members and their allies concerning social, emotional, academic and vocational concerns. Refer Club and staff members to the appropriate resources to resolve solutions related to inequality.
TRAINING
Develop, implement, and manage diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings for all staff and any Club members.
PROGRAMMING
Develop a comprehensive calendar of events and programs to promote a diverse intellectual and social environment for all students, with special attention to historically marginalized students and their allies. Examples of such programs could include: Latino/a and Hispanic Heritage month activities, LGBTQ History month activities, Black History month activities, Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Native American History month activities, Unity Week activities, new student reception, and Martin Luther King Day event. Oversee the promotion, execution, and assessment of all programs.
