    One of Kansas' most respected counties is looking for Juvenile Detention Officers for immediate hire. This is a permanent, full time, long term career opportunity in the criminal justice field. Pay starts at $21.23/hr for no prior corrections experience necessary.

    Former military, law enforcement, security or corrections experience highly valued. There is room to advance through different exciting career paths with in the unit.

    Job Requirements:

    \- Minimum 21 years old

    \- Driver’s License

    \- High School Diploma or GED

    \- Previous Professional Work History with children ages 10-17 or college level training in related field

    \- Eligible to work in the US

    - Must live in Wyandotte County or willing to relocate within 12 months of hire.

    \- Ability to pass background check

    \- Ability to pass drug test

    \- Must not have used marijuana within 9 months, or narcotics within 10 years.

     

    As a Detention Officer: You will be responsible for maintaining security and safety for the detainees in a detention center setting.

     

    Other Requirements:

    \- Clean Background

    \- Previous Professional Work History with children ages 10-17 or college level training in related field (see below)

    \- Clean drug screening

    \- Current Driver's license

    \- DD214 (if applicable)

    \- Former military, law enforcement or corrections experience highly valued

    At least one of the following Experience Requirements:

    • Three semester hours of college level study in adolescent development, psychology, or a related subject
    • 45 clocked hours in documented training in child care or child development
    • 1 year experience as a child care worker or house parent in a facility serving youth
