    Location: Amarillo, TX or US-Based Remote (with periodic travel to Amarillo, TX)

As we continue to evolve, we are seeking a skilled Windows System Engineer to join our IT team, ensuring our systems remain secure, efficient, and highly available.

    Position Overview: The Windows System Engineer plays a critical role in managing, maintaining, and optimizing Herring Bank’s on-premises and cloud-based IT infrastructure. This position will focus on Windows Server engineering, Azure and Microsoft 365 management, SAN administration, compliance and reporting, system security, and data protection. The ideal candidate will have experience with Hyper-V clusters, Active Directory, SAN storage (NetApp preferred), and both Windows and basic Linux administration.

    Key Responsibilities:

    System Administration and Virtualization:

    Administer and engineer Windows Server environments, ensuring high availability and performance.

    Manage Hyper-V clusters and associated virtual machines, ensuring stable operations.

    Administer SAN solutions, maintaining optimal performance and data accessibility (NetApp preferred).

    Perform daily system validation checks and data center hardware installations as needed.

    Cloud Management and Identity Security:

    Manage and secure Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra ID (Azure AD), focusing on hybrid identity, conditional access, and single sign-on (SSO).

    Oversee user provisioning, group policies, and configurations in Active Directory, Intune, and Microsoft 365.

    System Security and Compliance:

    Implement and enforce security policies across Windows and cloud environments.

    Perform regular security audits and monitor logs for vulnerabilities or anomalies.

    Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to maintain compliance with industry regulations and ensure systems meet reporting and audit requirements.

    Backup and Data Protection:

    Manage VEEAM backup solutions to ensure reliable data recovery processes.

    Monitor and resolve backup failures promptly.

    Qualifications:

    Experience:

    5+ years in IT systems engineering, with expertise in Windows environments.

    Hyper-V cluster management.

    Basic Linux administration skills.

    Data center hardware installation and SAN management (NetApp preferred).

    Active Directory, Intune, and Microsoft 365/Entra ID administration, including hybrid identity management and SSO.

    Backup management with VEEAM or similar solutions.

    Familiarity with IT compliance and regulatory reporting standards.

    Core Skills:

    Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

    Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure and hybrid IT environments.

    Knowledge of system security protocols and best practices.

    Ability to work occasional after-hours shifts for critical maintenance or incident resolution.

    Preferred Certifications:

    Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or Administrator Associate

    NetApp Certified Technology Associate (NCTA)

    ITIL Foundation or equivalent

    Core Work Hours: 8 AM–5 PM CST, with occasional after-hours support.
