    Editing Coordinator

    Reports to Editing Manager

    The Editing Coordinator I is primarily responsible for copyediting and proofreading resources from Word on Fire, including books, essays, video scripts, periodicals, and internal documents. The Editing Coordinator I will additionally format manuscripts, assist with research, and compile indices and text for various projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Copyedit and proofread Word on Fire’s books, journals, and transcripts

    • Format manuscripts to align with Word on Fire Style Guide

    • Enter, check, and organize content for the Word on Fire Publishing team

    • Compile indices, notes, and bibliographies for books

    • Review and edit digital copy released through Word on Fire, including text appearing in emails, blog posts, social media captions, ads, and websites

    • Review and edit on-screen video text, closed captions, and transcriptions for videos produced by Word on Fire

    • Compile text for various projects, including the Word on Fire Bible series, Word on Fire’s Daily Gospel Reflections, and other text collections

    • Assist with other editing and research work, as needed

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, Writing, Journalism, Theology, or related fields, or equivalent experience

    • Strong familiarity with the Bible, Catechism of the Catholic Church, and magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church

    • Strong attention to detail, especially with textual content

    • Experience using Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word (including Track Changes)

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience in the fields of editing and/or publishing, especially with theological texts

    • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style

    • Familiarity with the work of Bishop Robert Barron and Word on Fire
