The Department of Psychology invites applications for adjunct faculty with specialization in Child Life to teach undergraduate and graduate Child Life courses at Azusa campus as well as Regional campuses. The adjunct faculty reports to Program Directors of M.S. in Child Life and is responsible for delivering instructions in the manner determined by the department, following standardized criteria and competencies governed by Association of Child Life Professionals.
SPECIALIZATION: All applicants must hold Child Life Specialist Certification and obtained a minimum of 4000 paid clinical hours as a Certified Child Life Specialist with supervision experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty is to deliver instruction in the manner determined by the department. In addition, faculty responsibilities may include:
Preparation of syllabus and teaching of curriculum according to the goals and objectives of the department.
Student advising and office hours in relation to the course load carried, and as assigned in the faculty teaching assignment.
Participate as a member of the Department of Psychology faculty in program assessment as it relates to course assignments and other duties as assigned.
Determine student mastery of material and assign final course grades from evaluation of tests, quizzes, homework, and other assignments and activities related to course material.
Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.
LEVEL: Clinical faculty or Assistant professor eligible with M.S. in Child Life, certification as Child Life Specialist required. Associate and Full Professor eligible with Ph.D.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must possess M.S. in Child Life or affiliated degree.
• Certification as Child Life Specialist and minimum of 4000 clinical hours.
• Child Life Supervisory and program leadership experience preferred.
• Preferred experience includes teaching at the college or university level.
• The ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
• A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University.
WORKLOAD
Assigned teaching duties will not exceed 9 units per semester; office hours and additional duties may be assigned. Total workload will not exceed 29 hours per week, nor 24 units per 12-month period.
