    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

    As the Senior Application Developer, you will be responsible for highly generalized software development, maintenance and troubleshooting of a medium to high level of effort.

    Development responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, custom web development, database development, native mobile application development, systems integration, and highly specialized process development through all phases of the software design lifecycle. 

    YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

    • Conducts requirements gathering, analysis and documentation through the evaluation of service requests and with input from business owners.
    • Documents technical and functional designs for proposed solutions, and obtains sign-off from business owners.
    • Develops solutions that match the approved design in accordance with HPSJ software development standards.
    • Analyzes and diagnoses technical malfunctions of custom built applications; designs and executes reusable test cases, in collaboration with business owners and peers, which verify functionality.
    • Performs peer review of programming code, database procedures and other items as required.
    • Prepares and maintains documentation, including but not limited to application documentation, status updates and project time.
    • Participates in team and division meetings to review changes to infrastructure and define business direction.
    • Provides training and guidance, and reviews work of less senior staff.

    • Basic knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
    • Basic knowledge of software troubleshooting.
    • In-depth understanding of principles and practices of application software installation and support.
    • Strong knowledge of leading and emerging software products and technologies.
    • In-depth knowledge of a variety of IT disciplines/technologies including: Databases, Network Servers, PCs, Telephone Systems, Microsoft Technologies, SQL Server, .Net, and Systems Engineering.
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Windows and domain architecture), electronic data interchange, and network and domain architecture.
    • Knowledge of the Healthcare Payer Industry.
    • Ability to create relevant department objectives, and create, execute and monitor business plans.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels both inside and outside of HPSJ
    • Strong knowledge of change management theory, with ability to anticipate and implement effectively.

    Required Experience

    WHAT YOU HAVE:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Required

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science or closely related field; and
    • At least five years of health care information systems analysis and applications development experience; and
    • At least one year of supervisory experience in IT; and
    • Four years in a technical leadership position; or
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS

    Required

    • Valid California license and reliable transportation or, the ability to obtain transportation on demand in the counties served by HPSJ if prohibited from getting a driver license due to a medically documented disability.
