Job Overview: A X-Ray Technician (Basic Machine Operator)/Medical Assistant is a skilled healthcare professional who specializes in both medical assistance and the operation of X-ray technology. This role combines clinical responsibilities, patient care, and expertise in conducting X-ray scans.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients, obtain their medical histories, and record vital signs.
Assist providers and nurses during patient examinations and procedures.
Administer medications, treatments, and injections as directed.
Educate patients on X-ray scan procedures.
Operate X-ray machines following established protocols.
Ensure accurate patient positioning and alignment for X-ray scans.
Monitor and adjust imaging parameters for optimal image quality.
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot X-ray equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
Ensure patient safety and comfort during the imaging process.
Schedule patient appointments, manage/coordinate patient flow.
Maintain accurate patient records, including X-ray results, as well as demographic and medical information.
Follow strict HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
Monitor and maintain the quality and accuracy of X-ray scans.
Collaborate with providers to ensure timely reporting of imaging results.
Follow established radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment in the X-ray areas.
Sterilize and maintain equipment, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in X-ray technology and medical assisting techniques.
Attend relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Maintain required certifications and licenses.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3-5 relevant experience.
Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred, but not required
Certification in relevant radiologic training (e.g., X-ray technologist).
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
CPR certification may be required.
Other:
Willing to travel to both New Smyrna Beach and Ormond Beach locations.
