JOB SUMMARY

Under the indirect supervision of the Head of Operations, the Head of Production & Manufacturing is responsible for defining operational targets, production goals, and directing Production activity that results in the company meeting customer orders and sales plans. The Head of Production & Manufacturing analyzes reports, articulates progress against set metrics, and is constantly working to streamline workflows. This position is located primarily in the Auburn, WA plant and will travel to our Monterey Park, CA plant. The XCJ's Corporate offices are in Bellevue, WA. 

AS OUR HEAD OF PRODUCTION AND MANUFACTURING, YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO:

• Develop plans and goals to ensure business objectives are met
• Estimate costs and prepare budgets
• Directs operations of the production plants to ensure that projects run smoothly and meet deadlines
• Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines
• Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements
• Monitor production to resolve issues
• Reviews project budgets to determine if they are feasible based on the scope of work involved
• Review and analyze relevant reports to guide business decisions around safety, production, maintenance and quality
• Cultivates a culture of ownership, discipline and safety
• Ensures that all production equipment is in good working order and that all necessary materials are available
• Set short and long term production and processing goals
• Ensure operational compliance with safety training, communication and directives
• Continuously improves productivity through automation, labor efficiencies, and reducing plant costs
• Determine amount of necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.)
• WITHIN THE FIRST 30 DAYS, the Head of Production & Manufacturing will review production flows and report back with feedback on enhancements, automation suggestions, risks, and risk mitigation strategies and put an action plan in place
• Position is required to travel up to 25% of the time
• Position is required to be onsite at least 90% of the time
• Other duties as assigned
• Perform Manager Duties: 
  • Recruiting and interviewing
  • Supervising a group of 2 - 3 managers (direct), 5 supervisors and 45+ technicians (indirect) operating transparent and accountable feedback
  • Oversee the project deliverables of the functions
  • Ensures supervisors manage their teams efficiently and in accordance with departmental goals and XCJ's OKRs
  • Meets with direct reports on a regular basis and conducts performance evaluations

YOU SHOULD BE SOMEONE WITH:

• Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
• Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
• Strong analytical ability to review sales targets and turn them into tangible production plans with, enhancing lead times and efficiencies 
• Experience in reporting on key production metrics with high attention to detail
• Understanding of quality standards, GMP, USDA regulations and environmental health & safety regulations
• Proficient in Google Suite, MS Office, and ERP software
• Experience using collaboration software and tools (such as: slack, notion, asana)

YOU SHOULD HAVE: 

• Experience in frozen food production environments is highly desirable. Hands on consumer goods experience is required
• 10 years progressive experience 
• Bachelors in business administration, automation, engineering, or relevant fields. Additional 4 years experience in field acceptable in lieu of degree
• Minimum 7 years managerial experience
