The Material Management department plays an integral role in the procurement and delivering of materials for the Point Eight Power operations. The overall objective of the Shipping & Receiving Clerk position is to ship and receive the necessary materials needed to produce quality Point Eight Power products, as well as preparing, packaging and shipping completed products to our clients. Consistent and accurate modeling and representing of the Point Eight Power brand, mission, vision, values and organizational strategy are essential to achieving the goals of the organization.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the effort of providing best-in-class service to our clients by preparing work orders and packages for shipment so that the material gets to our clients safely and in a timely manner.
- Examine the materials or products to confirm quantity, description and code / part numbers in order to ensure accuracy of the material received or products preparing to ship.
- Locate and distribute any material, equipment or supplies needed by the Fabrication, Production and Field Service departments in order to complete jobs and to ensure on-time shipment of our products.
- Effectively communicate with various departments such as Procurement, Engineering, Fabrication and Production to ensure parts are received as needed to maintain efficient throughput.
- Decrease the cycle time of our products by assisting the Material Coordinator with inventory by performing cycle counts.
- Use mechanical knowledge to operate equipment such as forklift in order to move or store received parts, equipment or supplies in the correct location.
- Accurately enter receipt information into the AS400 system in a timely manner to ensure the efficient process of invoices through our Accounting department.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma/GED
- Forklift Certification, preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 1-2 years of shipping and receiving experience, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- INTRAPERSONAL SKILLS: Self-motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently from others. Hold a strong regard for guidelines, procedures and integrity.
- MECHANICAL: Knowledge of machines and tools. Tools include: ratchet straps, forklift, overhead crane, nail gun, staple gun, hand tools, air tools, and miter saw.
- COMPUTERS AND ELECTRONICS: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office Business Suite; knowledge of accounting software such as AS 400.
- VERBAL & WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position requires minimum skills (ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.)
- MATH SKILLS: This position requires minimal skills (add, subtract, etc.)
- MANUAL DEXTERITY: The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Requirement: Demanding. Must have ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. Employee must be at to sit, climb or balance, hear, use hands, taste/smell, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk, and reach with hands and arms.
Working Conditions: Conditions vary per work site: can be high heat, high humidity, exposure to electrical shock and mechanical parts, exposure to radiation, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals with fumes and/or airborne particles.
Overtime: As needed.
Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm
