Job Description
Yates Creative (yatescreative.co) seeks a full-time Communications Associate to support our non-profit and community-driven clients in telling powerful stories online, alongside our Founder & Lead Strategist. The Communications Associate will be responsible for leading the daily communications of our digital clientele, with the opportunity to support in the development of branded messaging and offer coaching to early career communicators.

Location: Preferably a San Francisco Bay Area resident, open to the right remote candidate
Reports to: Founder & Lead Strategist
Terms of Employment: Full-time, non-exempt. 4-day work week, 32 hrs/week
Salary: 65K - 75K, depending on experience.

Qualifications
We are looking for a creative and driven candidate with experience in marketing and digital communications.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public policy, journalism and/or equivalent work experience (3-6 years of experience is preferred) in non-profit, marketing and/or movement based organizations.
Demonstrates strong understanding and commitment to racial equity and anti-racism with familiarity of intersectional issues in communities of color.
Experience in cross platform media management platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, Medium, Wordpress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), and management/design tools such as Sprout Social and Canva.
Demonstrates creativity and curiosity in generating engaging content and copy for client projects, including blog writing, original storytelling, and long and short-form reports.
Excellent written and verbal communication to communicate alongside internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent copywriting skills that ensure accurate, grammatically correct public-facing communications channels.
The capacity to work independently and collaboratively while meeting multiple deadlines.
Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Willingness to innovate, problem-solve and take initiative.
Main Responsibilities
The Yates Communications Associate will be under the direct supervision of the Yates Creative Founder & Lead Strategist. Key responsibilities include
* Development of short and long-term communications strategies addressing client’s goals with tangible daily tactics
* Lead client meetings, set meeting agendas, proactively with collaborate with clients and colleagues to ensure their communications needs are met
* Write and design monthly newsletters
* Brainstorm and execute original ideas for social media content, craft copy, build and manage editorial calendar
* Support in the creation of client messaging, collateral and shareable materials
* Monitor news and current events for potential content and respond to timely issues in the field
* Draft and publish bimonthly blogs/original storytelling
* Build engaging fundraising and issue-based campaigns
* Organize email and social media engagement reports
* Communicate with content creator for the design client visuals (e.g.. reels, graphics) while maintaining consistent messaging, style, and visual appeal based on client branding
* Co-facilitate communications skills-building trainings
* Think of innovative ways to meet our goals and engage audiences
* Conduct stakeholder interviews and client research
* Execute audience and landscape analyses
* Consolidate research findings in engaging presentations
* Craft original messaging with secondary talking points
* Draft copy for website and additional collateral materials
* Research and share educational resources to client
* Co-develop a communications strategy with client
* Serve as a sounding board for client concerns and challenges
* Offer strategic guidance on solving problems and addressing rising communications issues
* Adhere to Yates coaching workbook
