A unique opportunity exists at Youtopia® Health for an Exponential Chef who is a self-starter with a growth mindset who wants to join a start-up where innovation is valued. As a Youtopian™ Exponential Chef, your role is centered on the development, implementation and execution of culinary innovation through a blend of culinary arts and food science as part of the Youtopia Health team.
As our Exponential Chef, you will:
- Combine culinary skills and scientific knowledge to drive commercially viable product development for personalized meal delivery platform.
- Lead culinary aspects of recipe development with solutions to quality and flavor issues.
- Review customer experience data to determine necessary adjustments to recipes and product delivery to ensure high nutritional and high customer satisfaction.
- Document and explain techniques for others to re-create those recipes.
- Work closely with the Nutritional & Medical Scientists to design meal specific solutions that set out to help cure and prevent disease and regenerate health.
- Create standard operating procedures, best practices, and policies that ensure consistency and quality across a network of distributed resources.
- Drive and maintain the highest standards in production amongst an ever-growing network of meal makers.
- Develop and operate programs that utilize current supply of inventory amongst "meal makers" in order to drive down waste to close to 0%, improve cost and efficiency.
What you bring to the table:
- A unique combination of chef, product developer and nutritional scientist. Ability to address complex challenges in creating healthy meals with simplicity and clarity.
- Proficient in advanced cooking techniques used to preserve nutrient value and quality of meals in ready-to-eat and cook-chill-retherm situations.
- Previous experience working with a nutritionist and as a chef in a commercial kitchen or food service company.
- Be a champion for the development of healthy great tasting recipes.
- A skill set of using common, easily sourced ingredients in order to create simple and straightforward, good tasting, healthy meals.
- A focus on consistency and high-quality results.
- Familiarity and comfort working with a wide variety of cuisines, across a range of food categories.
- Ability to effectively resource with a diverse team of foodservice professionals, as needed.
- Have an enormous passion for and demonstrates living optimally utilizing preventive health and nutrition.
- Excellent team player with Exponential Organization mindset and approach.
- Medical mindset and approach to outcomes is comprehensively holistic.
- Ability to interface with and maintain good rapport with medical scientists, nutritional scientists, medical practitioners, nutritionists and the entire food industry.
- Experience creating healthy meals that meet the Youtopia® Health criterion and fit within customer expectations.
Required experience and education:
- 7-10 years of experience innovating food products across various foodservice and manufacturing environments
- Food Science background preferred
- 3+ years experience in product development
- 3+ years professional kitchen experience
- Must have a passion for loving and serving others
- Experience with sous vide, HPP, food preparation is a plus.
- Team player and strong skills in communicating, influencing, critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Meticulous attention to detail including strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Comfortable with changing tasks frequently and working in ambiguity.
- Ability to take charge, work independently, and as well as part of a larger team.
- High motivation to learn, develop and perform in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred experience and education:
- ServSafe certified (preferred) or ability to complete the program within 30 days of hire.
- Nutritional Science and formal chef training
- Ability to wear many hats as needs change.
