We have an immediate need for a full-time, non-exempt Youth Engagement College Readiness Coordinator. The Youth Engagement College Readiness Coordinator
**** inspires and nurtures post-secondary opportunities and success of high school students in the north shore of Boston communities. The salary range for this position is $48,000 - $53,000 annually. As a full-time role, the Y outh Engagement College Readiness Coordinator is eligible to participate in the organization's benefits program.
POSITION OVERVIEW (What we're looking for )
As a member of the Middle and High School Programs department, the Youth Engagement College Readiness Coordinator supports high school juniors and seniors in planning for post-secondary opportunities. This role manages and supports the adult volunteer mentorship efforts, facilitates college search and application processes, and plans activities and events relative to college readiness and college life transition. Reporting to the Project Accelerate Supervisor, the Y outh Engagement College Readiness Coordinator plays a vital role in helping high school girls prepare for post-secondary education planning. This position will be scheduled to work an evening schedule (11:30 am - 7:30 pm).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES (What you'll be achieving)
At a minimum, the Y outh Engagement College Readiness Coordinator ****will be responsible for successfully carrying out the following essential functions and duties:
Plan and facilitate weekly college access programming for high school seniors and juniors.
Evaluate existing college access curricula and update or develop new programming curricula, as needed.
Create the annual program schedule.
Recruit, interview, and orient teens for the program.
Recruit, interview, and train volunteers to serve as mentors for the girls.
Establish and maintain partnerships with local universities, youth agencies, and companies for guest speaking, volunteering opportunities, tours, and event collaboration.
Organize and carry out annual events, such as mentor appreciation, alumni panel and care packages, Girls Inc. scholarships, the college shower, etc.
Plan and lead a two-week Project Accelerate summer bootcamp, including visits to local colleges and companies.
Participate as a member of the High School Programs team to assess the needs of youth and the greater community and how Girls Inc. is/could be meeting such needs.
Track and evaluate all programming outcomes against predefined metrics to determine successes.
Participate in weekly supervisory and staff meetings.
Complete all required program reporting.
Work collectively with other staff across the organization.
Carry out other duties as assigned, such as snack preparation, closing, assisting with events, and chaperoning field trips.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (What you'll bring along)
Education : Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is strongly desired. The educational requirement may be substituted with four years of relevant experience.
Experience : Minimum of two years of direct service-related experience working with adolescents, including program planning, group facilitation, building youth-adult relationships, etc.
Qualifications : To be optimally successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Prior experience working with youth and adults in a multicultural, urban setting.
Knowledge of the college application and scholarship processes.
Experience in working with and facilitating adult volunteers.
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work as an effective and active team player.
Ability to work evening hours and the occasional weekend event.
Fluent in multiple languages (English, English/Spanish, Haitian Creole/English, etc.) is a plus.
