    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

    Face to Face Health and Counseling is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing economic and health equity for youth ages 11–24. We do this work through a comprehensive approach that includes housing, mental health, medical, youth justice, education & employment, and community services. We take a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to our work and center the needs of young people impacted by racism and other forms of oppression and marginalization. Founded in 1972, Face to Face serves more than 3,000 youth annually.

    JOB SUMMARY: The Youth Leadership Coordinator role is designed to provide structure for young people to be engaged in leadership at Face to Face and in the broader community. Face to Face believes in promoting and listening to youth voice in hiring decisions, program design, evaluation, and more. We also believe they are experts in the issues that impact them on a societal level and want to promote their leadership in the broader community. The Youth Leadership Coordinator facilitates the Face to Face Youth Leadership Council (YLC), coordinates youth advocacy efforts in the community, and provides support to young people as they initiate actions that are important to them.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Youth Leadership Council

    • Work with youth leaders to design and facilitate Youth Leadership Council (YLC) including recruiting youth, scheduling meetings, planning agendas, and managing follow up actions.
    • Support youth in the YLC in creating ongoing structure by creating a youth recruitment process, outlining goals, developing bylaws/guiding principles, etc.
    • Develop team bonding activities to connect, collaborate and build relationships among YLC youth.
    • Provide project management support for YLC on projects they decide to take on, ensuring successful implementation and logistics.
    • Provide YLC youth with training and skill development opportunities related to the projects they are interested in pursuing.
    • Develop and provide training for YLC youth in recognizing and utilizing their strengths, passions, and voices to create systems change.
    • Support youth participation in YLC meetings by helping them overcome barriers to engagement (transportation, childcare, etc).
    • Facilitate payment to youth for their engagement in YLC and other leadership actions.

    ** Face to Face Leadership**

    • Coordinate youth to participate in interviews for Face to Face staff.
    • Assist youth in gathering input and feedback from their peers through survey tools and focus groups.
    • Support Face to Face strategic and program planning processes by facilitating opportunities for youth engagement and input.
    • Train youth to participate at supporters in Restorative Justice practices with their peers.
    • Facilitate youth engagement in the Face to Face Board of Directors.

    ** Community Advocacy**

    • Connect/engage youth in local community/political/career/educational events as appropriate.
    • Coordinate opportunities for youth to provide input into local government and community organization projects that impact them, ensuring they are done in a way that matches Face to Face values and principles.
    • Teach youth to practice advocacy for issues that they choose and are meaningful to them.
    • Facilitate youth engagement in lobbying and advocacy events (e.g. Homeless Day on the Hill).
    • Support youth participation in community youth boards of interest to them.
    • Create and maintain a network of stakeholders with local youth programs, agencies, municipalities, and other individuals/groups with an interest in youth development.

    ** Other**

    • Provides all services guided by the 9 evidence-based principles for helping youth overcome homelessness.
    • Track and report on projects and program data on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
    • Write and produce professional documents, correspondence and reports as required by partners, funders, and supervisor.
    • Represent F2F in the community.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience working with diverse youth ages 14 to 24 facing multiple barriers including homelessness.
    • Experience with youth leadership development, systems change, and/or advocacy work preferred.
    • Ability to build rapport and trust with youth, particularly BIPOC youth.
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Solid presentation skills, including experience presenting at workshops, community, and agency meetings.
    • Strong work ethic and ability to produce results with minimal supervision.
    • Demonstrated experience working effectively with a team and individually.
    • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to multiple processes prone to change.
    • Experience in project management.
    • Highly organized and detail oriented.
    • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial and cultural backgrounds.
    • Valid MN Driver's License, proof of insurance and reliable transportation a must.

    LOCATION:

    Essential Onsite Flex – This role requires the employee to be onsite, with the possibility of some specific and limited remote hours. Employees are required to be fully onsite during the initial 3-month training period.

    • Ability to perform the duties outlined in the job description.
    • Ability to perform duties and responsibilities typical of an office environment.
    • Able to be flexible, work under stress and to respond to emergencies/crises
    • Must be able to travel in all weather conditions in MN
    • Face to Face is subject to the government mandate requiring employee COVID vaccination. All employees will be required to get vaccinated.

    PAY & BENEFITS:

    The pay rate for this position is between $24.50 and $26 based on qualifications.
