    Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Trainer:

    SCAN-LISD AWARE Project (Webb County)

    • Seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual that wants to conduct outreach, organize, coordinate and provide Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings to LISD staff and parents/ caregivers of students.

    Founded in 1982 in Laredo, Texas, SCAN is a leading provider of social services in South Texas. The SCAN-LISD AWARE Project in Laredo, Webb County, Texas increases SCAN's ability to foster mental health awareness and resiliency among youth and their families by implementing a three-tiered public health model, which includes evidence-based universal and secondary prevention strategies and tertiary intervention strategies among Laredo ISD students and their family members and employees of the school district.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide in-person and virtual Youth Mental Health First-Aid Training to school district staff and parents/caregivers of students to help educate them about and reduce stigma around mental health issues.
    • Provide outreach and recruit school staff and parents/caregivers to receive training on site or via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
    • Network with designated school district staff to ensure consistent scheduling of training sessions.
    • Collect, track and report data from each training provided.
    • Provide other training sessions as needed (e.g., Signs of Suicide for Students) to help the AWARE Project meet its annual training goals.

    Qualifications:

    • A master's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, criminal justice, or related behavioral science field is required.
    • Able to engage in regular training sessions and public speaking.
    • Good computer skills.
    • Good bilingual (English and Spanish) skills are required.
    • Valid TX driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.

    Work Schedule and Compensation:

    • Flexible work schedule is 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
    • Salary: $22.60-$24.04 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
