The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking a Youth Treatment Counselor for our adolescent substance abuse program in Santa Maria.
We are looking for a counselor to join our dynamic team at the Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Treatment Center where we are dedicated to helping adolescents on the road to recovery and health. We are seeking a counselor with a desire to improve and expand the programming that we offer for the youth of Santa Maria. The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for working with this population and be interested in implementing a variety of innovative interventions with our clients.
Excellent training and Clinical Supervision are provided for AOD Certifications and MFT & Social Work Associates/Trainees.
This position is currently classified as Temporary with an end date in March 2025; however, we anticipate that the position will become permanent prior to that date.
Qualifications:
Degree, certification, or equivalent experience in a helping profession (Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, etc). Degree or certification may be in progress.
Experience working with youth and/or families in a professional setting.
Knowledge of counseling principles, techniques, and substance abuse assessment.
Knowledge of local treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation resources in North Santa Barbara County.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing.
Experience in alcohol/drug counseling or mental health therapy is beneficial.
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and bi-cultural preferred
Familiarity with SB County Behavioral Wellness documentation preferred.
Responsibilities:
Provide group and individual counseling to youth clients.
Assess client needs and develop treatment plans in collaboration with clients and families.
Offer case management services, including proper documentation of services provided.
Communicate with support persons (e.g., family, probation) to support client treatment.
Maintain compliance with Title 22, SB County Behavioral Wellness policies, and approved program curriculum.
Accurately complete assessments, documentation, and client files within prescribed deadlines.
Coordinate with agency staff for client-centered care, attend meetings, and stay updated on relevant research and required trainings.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. This is an in-person position, and a successful candidate would be required onsite in Santa Maria. The hours are generally 10:30am-7pm but can vary. This position is currently classified as temporary with an end date in March 2025; however, we anticipate that the position will become permanent prior to that date.
Compensation is dependent of the level of prior experience and qualifications, with a salary range of $22-$30, (registered AMFT or licensed LMFT $25-$30) and a rate increase potential for bilingual (Spanish/English).
In compliance with the California Department of Health Care Services, residential treatment staff require an up-to-date Tuberculosis test during the duration of employment.
