Summary of Duties:
The School and Community Youth Services Youth and Family Therapist is responsible for providing moderate to long-term mental health counseling to elementary, middle, and high school students and their families who attend designated schools within Montgomery County Public Schools. The position involves collaborative work with school counselors and other community agencies to provide individual, family and group counseling; skill development groups; parent/ community education programs; information and referral to needed services; substance abuse screening/ assessments, and school/community outreach. The program is designed to strengthen families, build resilience, develop pro-social skills.
Clinical Responsibilities:
· Complete mental Health and/or substance abuse assessments of children ages 5 and up
· Provide individual, group and family counseling
· Follow up on counseling referrals as needed
· Lead and/or Co-lead psycho-educational groups or counseling groups in schools or community-based settings
· Consult with parents, school staff, and/or medical providers regarding client’s treatment and needs.
· Make referrals for individuals/family treatment (for those with access to outside resources);
· Attend school and parent meetings (EMT, IEP, suspension, etc.) as needed
· Conduct community outreach via workshops/presentations, participation in community committees/workgroups, and outreach fairs
· Provide Crisis intervention and referral for extended services
· Maintain a minimum caseload as required by contract
Administrative Responsibilities:
· Maintains clients’ charts (to include all required clinical and administrative documentation, and data entry into the electronic health record system)
· Compiles weekly staff records/statistics
· Attends weekly supervision, staff meetings, and participates in relevant staff training
Qualifications:
Maintains any one of the following licenses, in good standing, in the State of Maryland: Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C), Licensed Certified Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Graduate Professional Art Therapist, Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC). Transportation required. Bi-Lingual in French and/or Spanish.
Licensure Requirement:
Must have one of the following licenses, in good standing, in the State of Maryland...
o Licensed Certified Professional Counselor (LCPC)
o Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C)
o Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC)
o Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW)
Licensed Psychologist
Licensed Graduate Professional Art Therapist (LGPAT)

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary - position ends on June 30th, 2025.
Schedule: Monday's and Wednesday's (8 hours per day)
Work Location: In person
