Job Description
We are hiring a payroll specialist to join the Zaxby’s family. This position will join a team of payroll professionals that provide payroll services to Zaxby’s franchise owners. This position also offers some remote working options.
The Payroll Specialist II’s role is to process time documents, compute, process and balance wage and salary payments and related withholdings in addition to compiling, preparing, and maintaining payroll reports and statistics for assigned clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and maintain a close professional relationship with assigned clients
- Responsible for accurately performing all payroll duties for 23-25 locations each pay period (two bi-weekly groups are rotated)
- Import payroll hours when applicable and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy; when not available, enter hours manually into a computerized payroll system
- Process and balance bi-weekly payroll runs for assigned clients (two bi-weekly groups are rotated)
- Maintain an accurate payroll deposit total report via ACS and verify deposit amount summarizing bi-weekly payroll data for each payroll processed
- Keep an orderly filing system in accordance with department policy to include bi-weekly payroll paperwork, payroll change records, and new hire paperwork for each client
- Submit tax and wage attachment information for each assigned client to the tax and wage attachment team for processing upon completion of payroll
- Responsible for processing payroll for additional clients when other team members are absent
- Crosstrain in 1-2 areas within the payroll department and provide support in these areas during the primary responsible party’s absence
- Research and document issues related to calculating payroll
- Conform with and abide by all regulations and policies as set forth in the Zaxby’s handbook
- Communicate with supervisor, co-workers, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner
- Other projects and assignments as directed by Payroll Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of payroll
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, Word and Outlook
- Multi-state payroll experience a plus
- Strong work ethic and team player
- Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Must have the ability to:
- Perform basic math functions quickly and accurately
- Deal sensitively with confidential material
- Work in a fast-paced environment
- Work within tight deadlines
- Complete work with many interruptions
- Communicate in writing and verbally effectively in a constructive manner with management, peers, and coworkers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
Education: Associate’s degree in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 3+ years of related experience and/or training
