Casbah (casbah.kitchen) located in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA is seeking experienced Hosts.
With sunset hues and tables gathered close together, Casbah’s interior exudes warmth and charm. The restaurant attracts a wide audience, appealing to both young professionals and the young at heart.
Though it is a local stop for regulars whom bartenders and servers greet by name, Casbah is also a destination for others from across the city and out of town. From the year-round garden patio to the dining room, from the cozy bar to the wine cellar, each visit can feel like a new and special experience.

Position:
- Host (starting at $10/hour + tips | $17-$23/hour average)

Job Scope Host:
- Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival.
- Required to dress appropriately following established restaurant standards.
- Take coats to coat check room, bring guests’ claim ticket, retrieve coats upon guests’ departure.
- When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
- When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and number of people in party in OpenTable.
- Provide guests with estimated waiting time.
- Find guest through strong descriptive notes when tables become available.
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
- Become fluent in the understanding of the restaurant’s table and seating numbers.
- Seat guest guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations.
- Maintain clean menus, tables, floor and host stand.
- Check the restaurant’s exterior every hour for debris.
- Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.
- Relay messages to servers and bus persons as needed.
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
Qualifications Host:
- No previous restaurant experience required
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with our guests
- Must have exceptional grooming habits
