Principal Software Engineer, Cloud Platform Services
Seeking a professional challenge where your impact will be immediately felt and appreciated? We, at MapR, have built the industry's best data platform for managing petabytes of data, running on thousands of nodes, and accessed by millions of users. We are looking for a senior engineer to design and build a cloud offering of MapR's data platform for AI/ML, operational analytics, and IoT.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Be a part of the founding team responsible for shaping the cloud offering of MapR’s data platform
Architect, design and implement scalable services to support a containerized deployment of the MapR Data Platform on the public cloud
Set clear goals, project milestones, and engineering plans to ensure timely product delivery

RELEVANT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
BS degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
Experience designing and architecting applications for the cloud (Google Cloud Platform, AWS or Azure).
Experience running large-scale distributed computing systems in a SaaS or PaaS environment
Experience working with the cloud stack technologies such as containers (Kubernetes) and microservices is a plus
Strong programming experience in Java, Scala or other JVM languages and a desire to be hands-on
Past architecture experience with the following Big Data technologies is a plus: Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL Databases such as HBase
