AJ+ is looking for Associate Producer to support the senior editorial team in the creation and execution of short video or live original reports using freelance video journalists or internal field crews specifically designed for platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other emerging digital platforms.  The Associate Producer assists the senior editorial team with all aspects of element gathering for both breaking and developing news, or pre- and post-production on feature stories. The Associate Producer should be proactive in pitching ideas, and be willing to produce stories from start to finish.

  ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist screening external pitches and conceive of story ideas to be shot by freelance video journalists or stafffor content that can be used to engage with digital audiences across our platforms
• Assign stories as directed by manager
• Write scripts and social media copyto be used across various social networks for the assigned stories
• Fact-check scripts
• Conceive, pitch, and potentially execute story ideas
• Meet deadlines as assigned
• Carry out duties in line with AJ+ editorial guidelines and ethics
• Ensure that AJ+ content is consistent with guidelines and goals
• Promote their stories on social media
• Assist with field production as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor degree or relevant experience
• Experience in journalism, social media or video production

SKILLS

• Basic knowledge of journalism and video production
• Manage multiple tasks at the same time. Attention to detail is essential.
• The desired candidate must have sound editorial judgment of global issues, a passion and commitment to the Al Jazeera spirit of journalism
