    Job Summary: Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its talented corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation - from concept initiation through installation - of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects. Ride Engineers build the most advanced systems that create magical and immersive attractions around the world. We work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment to develop unique experiences. The studio is comprised of Control (Software and Hardware) and Mechanical departments to accomplish that goal.What we’re looking for… A Ride Engineering Intern who will work within the WDI studio which designs and develops rides that provide memorable moving experiences to Disney’s Guests worldwide. The intern may be involved in various project phases from concept to detailed design to testing. Although the Ride Engineering intern is responsible for a variety of engineering activities, emphasis is placed on learning. Throughout the internship, the Ride Engineering Intern will be exposed to subject matter experts in a variety of engineering disciplines. Responsibilities:You will… Be part of an engineering team involved in ride control system development, prototyping, simulation, or testing for a specific attraction or development projectDesign, model, and/or analyze electrical, electronic, and data communication systemsProvide mechanical analysis of components and systemsAssist in the design of mechanisms and machinesPerform CAD model manipulation and creationProvide ride system interface information to other groups within ImagineeringBasic Qualifications:What you bring to the role… Ability to understand and implement basic control system designAbility to understand and adapt general engineering principlesExperience with programmable controllers used in machine control and robotic applicationsAbility to conduct electrical/electronic design and calculationsAbility to prepare technical documents and CAD drawings Working knowledge of SolidWorksAbility to perform basic calculations in:statics and dynamicskinematicsstrength of materialsenergyPossess basic knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processesPreferred Qualifications:Basic understanding of systems modeling, vibrations, and compositesHands-on experience building and testing mechanisms, machines, or vehiclesWorking knowledge of MatlabRequired EducationCurrently enrolled as a Junior or higher or graduated within the past 6 months from an accredited college/university earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related Preferred EducationAdditional Information: Internship Eligibility:At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional InternshipMust be at least 18 years of ageMust not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.Must possess unrestricted work authorizationMust provide full work availabilityMust provide own transportation to/from workCurrent Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2022 through August/September 2022.
