THE ROLE: As part of the Advanced Technology and Innovation Team, the successful candidate will become an integral member of a high performing, cross-disciplinary team. The environment is fast-paced, with high expectations to produce results in innovative optical sensor design for water quality monitoring. This position requires the ability to apply broad engineering expertise in the development of the next generation of optical sensors to help solve some of the most challenging global water issues. This requires the candidate to design, develop, and troubleshoot high accuracy, low power electronic circuits and PCB assemblies for use in Xylem optical sensors that will function as a platform for a host of new field deployable products. Communication skills, close, daily collaboration, and a positive attitude are keys to success in this position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and develop analog and digital embedded electronic circuits to meet performance, cost, assembly, test, packaging, and project schedule objectives for assigned projects.
• Work closely with Mechanical, Embedded Software, and Research personnel to develop small integrated designs with maximum performance.
• Conduct laboratory experiments to test novel ideas.
• Hands-on experience is important for success on this team
• Willingness to self-start and execute design of experiments
• Detailed team reviews of results are required
• Specify and source prototype components, assist with prototype assembly, debug prototype assemblies.
• Enter schematics into CAD system and/or support PCB design efforts by others.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors for key components
• Document the concepts, design, testing, and analysis for electronic circuits developed.
• Assist in identifying and initiating technical projects/programs that will lead to product innovation and/or improvements.
• Must have the ability to work cross functionally with local and international team members
• Provide electrical engineering expertise to Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing to help solve production problems, resolve performance issues, and procure electronic components

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Electrical Engineering.MS preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years electrical engineering experience.
• Experience in analog circuit design 
• Experience in low power system design 
• Competency in digital signal processing desirable..
• Ability to utilize basic bench-top equipment such as oscilloscopes and meters during development phases to analyze firmware interaction with hardware
• Knowledge of embedded programming in C desirable.
• Ability to design using electronic CAD software tools for schematic design required; specific knowledge of Altium desirable.
• Knowledge and experience with Python programming language a bonus
