SOLAR ARRAY PHOTOVOLTAICS ENGINEER
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive design and manufacturing process development of high volume
manufactured, low-cost photovoltaic assemblies for space
applications
- Model cost, performance, reliability, and manufacturability of
photovoltaic assemblies
- Understand and evaluate current and emerging photovoltaic
technologies within all relevant solar industries
- Develop new tests to characterize degradation mechanisms and predict
the performance of proposed designs through product life.
- Perform due diligence on designs including hand calculations, FMEA,
and DFMEA
- Participate in design trades considering mechanical, optical,
electrical, thermal, and cost performance
- Design, document, and release flight designs using industry best
standards
- Coordinate development effort across multiple teams
- Track and communicate project status
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science
- 5+ years of experience in technical program management
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- MS or Ph.D. graduate degree in engineering or science.
- Familiarity with spacecraft solar arrays and the space environment
- Familiarity with high volume manufacturing
- Familiarity with terrestrial solar arrays
- Enthusiasm for hands-on prototyping
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations,
including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you
must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S.,
protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible
to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department
