    LOGISTICS SPECIALIST, DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS - TEMPORARY

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordination with requestors in handling, transporting and storing requested items
    • Coordination with requestors to prioritize shipment of items and provide tracking as needed
    • Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts and hand-trucks
    • Operate small trucks, such as stake bed trucks, or large vans for moving materials between locations
    • Verify all material received for conformity with accompanying paperwork, checking for damage, correct part numbers, quantity and revisions
    • Coordinate shipments through the shipping coordinator
    • Load/offload freight trucks for incoming/outgoing material
    • Travel off site to pick up materials from numerous vendors
    • Store material appropriately and monitor critical aspects such as out-life for temperature sensitive materials
    • Pick materials as requested and supply to the build team in a timely manner
    • Ensure the systems are kept updated to ensure the information current for inventory, deliveries and so on
    • Able to work unsupervised for long periods of time
    • Communicate clearly and concisely with management and customers to ensure all operations run smoothly and any problems are resolved in a timely manner

    POSITION DETAILS:

    This is a TEMPORARY position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.

    • LENGTH OF POSITION: contract end date is slated for end of Q4 2018 (end of Nov/Dec 2018)
    • LOCATION: Hawthorne, CA
    • SHIFT: Day

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Prior experience using hand held scanners and/or laptops
    • Prior experience with rigging, tie-downs, and lifting points
    • Prior transport experience in logistics operations

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Class A/B driver’s license
    • DOT Certified HazMat endorsement
    • Coordinate with other departments in support of purchase order placement
    • Communicate with suppliers and develop supplier relationships
    • Help other disciplines in the logistics department when needed
    • Windows operating systems, intermediate
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), intermediate

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Occasionally exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
    • Able to lift 25 lbs.
    • Able to work long/extended hours as necessary
    • Able to wear protective personal equipment

    ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

    • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
