GOVERNMENT PROGRAM LEAD
The Government Mission Management Office at SpaceX is charged with
leading, at a programmatic level, the successful execution of our
partnership and contractual agreements with the US government to improve
the reliability, security, and capability of the Falcon family of launch
vehicles. Our work improves SpaceX’s position as the premier domestic
provider of commercial launch services, able to meet all National
Security Space requirements including the launch of the heaviest and
most complex payloads.
In this position, you'll be responsible for all activities associated
with the successful execution of SpaceX's agreements with the US
government. This includes the completion of projects under the
agreement’s umbrella including launch vehicle, launch site, and
infrastructure development activities. While you will not take on every
constituent technical task, you will work through a matrixed
organization to ensure all tasks are completed on time and reliably. You
will also serve as the primary point of contact for the customer,
conducting the quarterly program reviews, completing key milestone
reviews, and handling any contractual issues. You will lead the
financial management of the program, ensuring reporting meets the terms
and conditions of the agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand all aspects of the project and related partnership
agreement
- Lead the on-time execution of the various projects contained within
the agreement
- Manage the master schedule and regularly report modifications to the
customer
- Manage the agreement’s contract and resolve issues that may arise
- Forecast yearly spend profiles to achieve capabilities and negotiate
with the government, working within the constraints set by updated
congressional budget allocations
- Understand the interconnectedness of the agreement with other
certification agreements, joint work plans, and certification plans
- Coordinate and chair all customer reviews and ensure that contract
deliverables are delivered on time and per the customer’s
expectation
- Coordinate the financial management of the agreement, evaluating
forecasts and actuals across SpaceX departments and facilities to
ensure resources are properly assigned and costs are within the
agreement’s budget baseline
- Ensure all programmatic and technical requirements are met to
achieve payment milestones and realize timely invoicing
- Help technical staff understand the agreement and upcoming
milestones so they can plan their tasks appropriately to maintain
schedule
- Brief executive management on the status, issues, and corrective
actions for maintaining successful agreement performance
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with 10+ years of industry
experience
- 5+ years of technical project management experience in an aerospace
organization
- Prior experience on an aerospace development project
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in engineering or MBA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external
customers
- 5+ years of experience working with government contracts
- Highly detail-oriented, diligent, and hardworking with excellent
customer interface skills
- Understanding of critical path scheduling and scheduling management
processes
- Prior experience working with launch vehicles
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to travel to other launch sites, vendors, and
customers as necessary; up to 25% travel
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed to
support critical launch and project milestones
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you
must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S.,
protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible
to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department
