MECHANICAL DEVELOPMENT TEST ENGINEER
The Mechanical Development Test Engineer is responsible for designing,
analyzing and building mechanical test equipment for the SpaceX
Satellite team. The position is design and analysis focused with an
emphasis on product development. You will be designing and building the
test infrastructure for the SpaceX Satellite Constellation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, build and analyze mechanical test equipment, data
acquisition systems, and control systems for Satellite mechanical
test equipment
- Development of test requirements with flight engineering team
- Perform structural and vibration analysis using FEM and hand
calculations
- Design of piece part and assembly level 3D CAD models
- Create and modify software applications to run data acquisition and
control systems
- Create engineering drawings for part fabrication and inspection
using GD&T.
- Supervise system level builds by working with technicians and
vendors
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering
- 2+ years of design, engineering analysis and build experience in the
industry or an university project team
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with design, build and test of hydraulic, thermal,
structural or electromechanical systems
- Hands-on experience with testing and data acquisition
- Experience using test instrumentation and control components:
pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges,
accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves,
and encoders
- Proficiency with Siemens NX, or equivalent 3D modeling software
- Proficiency coding experience
- Solid understanding of common manufacturing processes and machines
including mills, lathes, manual and CNC; Hands-on machining
experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed

- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations,
applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the
U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or
eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S.
