SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Senior Director leads the team of researchers
that provide necessary information to the Advancement office to ensure
successful fundraising, stewardship and alumni outreach. This in turn
supports the growth of fundraising efforts in direct alignment with the
University’s strategic imperatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
PROVIDE PROSPECT RESEARCH FUNCTION NEEDED BY DEPARTMENT TO ENSURE
SUCCESSFUL OUTREACH.
- Ensures that information is available to Advancement department in a
timely and accurate fashion to impact successful outreach efforts.
- Direct a team of professional research staff with respect to hiring,
training, productivity and professional development.
- Define research priorities, both domestic and international, to
ensure an appropriate balance of proactive and reactive research.
- Manage incoming research requests to ensure research efforts are
aligned with the University’s strategic imperatives and fundraising
initiatives.
DIRECT PROSPECT MANAGEMENT FUNCTION NEEDED BY DEPARTMENT TO ENSURE
ORGANIZED AND FUNCTIONAL MAJOR GIFT FUNDRAISING PROGRAM.
- Facilitates fundraising outcomes through the portfolio review
process, development and management of the proposal pipeline, and
moves management using existing technologies. Responsibilities
include organizing data such that it is accurate and available
for outreach.
PARTICIPATE IN STRATEGIC PLANNING AND SPECIAL PROJECTS WITH LEADERSHIP
TO ENSURE DEVELOPMENT OF ADVANCEMENT PROSPECTS.
- As part of Advancement’s Senior Leadership team, the Senior Director
will participate in strategic planning and special projects
as assigned. Tasks may include organization and evaluation of future
potential prospects from alumni and parents.
MAINTAIN DATA INTEGRITY AND USAGE TO ENSURE USERS HAVE ACCURATE
INFORMATION AVAILABLE WHEN NEEDED
- Responsible for the integrity of data; capacity ratings and data
elements supporting moves management. The Senior Director will
ensure Advancement staff understands the data and how to effectively
leverage the data to support fundraising.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required, master’s degree preferred
- Prior experience collaborating with multiple levels of an
organization
- Demonstrated strong and innovative leadership
- Over 10 years of research and prospect management experience; over 5
years of supervisory experience
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
- Direct experience with international prospect research and
management
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple
tasks and projects under tight deadlines
- Prior experience must include handling confidential material
with discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented
environment
